About Me
Zoe Olson
Registered Clinical Counsellor
(She/her) I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #11661) who believes passionately in the human-spirit’s ability to heal and overcome adversity when we face issues such as a mental health disorder, trauma, increase in stress, life transition or loss. At times we may have difficulty accessing our inner healing resources, thus the support of a mental health professional may be needed. It would be my honour to walk beside you on your journey to improve your mental health. I work with youth, individual adults and parents/caregivers in my practice located in Nanaimo, BC.
Human beings and their behaviour have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I began working in the mental health field while completing my BA in Psychology at the University of Victoria in 2008. Bearing witness to the adversity we often face as humans encouraged me to continue my education and obtain a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2012. I have since completed post-graduate training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in order to specialize in the treatment of trauma. I continually participate in professional development and training to ensure I practice in an evidence-based way while working with clients and their presenting concerns.
After nine years living and practicing in Salmon Arm, BC, my family and I relocated back to the Island during the summer of 2022. Alongside my husband, I am parenting two little ones who keep me on my toes (at full speed!) I also love to read and write, ski, cook, head out for walks and adventures with our dog, and immerse myself in a good podcast or music. Nothing happens until I’ve had my first coffee of the day and I am learning how to play again by trying new hobbies.
